Welcome to Portland School of Ballet!

Founded in 1980, Portland School of Ballet is home to the leading classical training in Maine. Our goal at PSB is to create a welcoming and healthy environment for all students to learn the art of ballet. We are determined to help our dancers set and reach goals, while at the same time assisting with the development of their artistry. At Portland School of Ballet, we have a class for everyone!

Portland School of Ballet follows a Vaganova-based curriculum; Vaganova is the Russian training system which creates a connected sense of movement and an expressive range. As they progress through PSB’s divisions, students develop an understanding of correct posture and placement, musicality, coordination, and artistry. Additionally, we are proud to offer beginner and intermediate Teen/Adult Drop-In classes for members of our community who may be new, or returning, to ballet.

Alumni have continued their studies at colleges such as The Hartt School, Butler University, and Boston Conservatory, and have accepted trainee positions with Portland Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Boston Ballet, and Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, among others. Regardless of whether or not our dancers pursue dance at the collegiate or professional level, the lessons they learn in our studios will be an asset to the next steps they take in their lives.

Your participation is important to us, and we never want cost to be a barrier.  If you have a question or request about pricing, please contact us at info@portlandballet.org
