Performance Opportunities

Performing and learning how to perform are a big part of ballet education!

All Junior Division dancers have the option to participate in Portland Ballet’s a Victorian Nutcracker, and students may also be selected to perform in other professional Portland Ballet productions. Additionally, the Junior-, Senior-, and Pre-Professional Divisions share the stage during the Building Ballets Series and the Year End Showcase.

JD-students may also have various opportunities to take part in outreach and community shows, such as Kennebunk's Annual May Day Festival or First Friday Art Walk.

Interested in Joining the Junior Division?

  • Students coming from Portland School of Ballet's Preparatory Division will receive level placement advice from their instructor at the end of the school year

  • Non-PSB students who are 7 years old at the start of the school year can enroll in Junior Division 1. Register for JD1 HERE.

  • Students ages 8 or older can email info@portlandballet.org to schedule a placement class. Placement classes are short, complimentary private lessons (~10 minutes), where a few simple exercises are given to determine which level would be most suitable and beneficial. Following the placement class, you will have the opportunity to speak with Portland School of Ballet faculty, tour our facilities, learn more about our School, and ask any questions you may have.
