Senior Division
Senior Division
The Senior Division (SD) provides a strong technical and artistic training for dancers 11+. The Senior Division offers high-quality training in Ballet, Pointe/Pre-Pointe, Character Dance, Contemporary, and Jazz. Dancers also have the opportunity to perform in productions throughout the year. With a strong focus on both technique and artistry, the schedule is designed to be both rigorous and flexible. Contact us at office@portlandballet.org to learn more or schedule your trial class today!
The Senior Division is designed to allow for the option of a flexible schedule, meaning dancers can take the full schedule or a portion of the schedule as arranged with the Office. This program is ideal for students who are planning to continue dance training in college, or who are involved in (musical) theater, ice skating, or dance team, and are looking to increase their strength, musicality, and mobility.
For more information, please contact office@portlandballet.org.

Performance Opportunities
SD-dancers have various stage opportunities throughout the year. They are part of Portland Ballet's a Victorian Nutcracker and perform in Portland School of Ballet's Building Ballets and Year End Showcase.
Senior Division students also help further Portland Ballet's mission of enriching our community by participating in outreaches and collaborations with other local arts organizations.
Interested in Joining the Senior Division?
Students coming from Portland School of Ballet's Junior Division will receive level placement advice from their instructor at the end of the school year
New-to-PSB students ages 11 and up can email info@portlandballet.org to schedule a placement class. Placement classes are short, complimentary private lessons (~10 minutes), where a few simple exercises are given to determine which level would be most suitable and beneficial. Alternatively, we may also invite you in for a trial class based on age. Following the placement class, you will have the opportunity to speak with Portland School of Ballet faculty, tour our facilities, learn more about our School, and ask any questions you may have.
New-to-ballet students ages 13+ can take our Ballet Essentials course, which is outlined below, in preparation for joining the Senior Division.
