Pre-Professional Division
The Pre-Professional Division (PPD) is a comprehensive program for middle/high school students, comprised of selected dancers of Portland School of Ballet’s advanced levels, and dancers chosen from our annual audition. Students accepted into the Pre-Professional Division are dedicated individuals looking to pursue a career in ballet, either by joining a professional company after graduation or continuing their studies in college with a Degree in Ballet. The PPD offers a demanding curriculum that requires 100 percent commitment.
Classes run from September-May for 33 weeks.

Pre-Professional Schedule A
Meets 4 days per week for 10 hours per week total.
Includes Ballet Technique, Pointe/Men's Class, A Victorian Nutcracker rehearsals/Repertoire, Contemporary, and Modern.
Tuition: $3,630 (33 weeks)
Pre-Professional Schedule B
Meets 4 days per week for 11.5 hours per week total.
Includes Ballet Technique, Pointe/Men's Class, A Victorian Nutcracker rehearsals/Repertoire, Contemporary, Modern, and adjunct classes such as Pilates and PBT.
Tuition: $4,175 (33 weeks)
Pre-Professional Schedule C
Meets 5 days per week for 15 hours per week total.
Includes: Ballet Technique, Pointe/Men's Class, A Victorian Nutcracker rehearsals/Repertoire, Variations, Contemporary, Modern, and adjunct classes such as Pilates and PBT.
Tuition: $5,198 (33 weeks)
Performance Opportunities
PPD dancers perform in a Victorian Nutcracker and may be selected to participate in other professional Portland Ballet productions. Additionally, they are part of Portland School of Ballet shows, including Building Ballets and the Year End Showcase, and also have the opportunity to partake in various community outreaches each year.
Interested in the Pre-Professional Division?
Pre-Professional Division is an auditioned program and requires at least one year of pointe training. Auditions are held annually in late Winter at our studios. Senior Division
Students age 11+ can also join the Senior Division! The Senior Division offers high-quality training in Ballet, Pointe/Pre-Pointe, Character Dance, Contemporary, and Jazz. Dancers also have the opportunity to perform in productions throughout the year. With a strong focus on both technique and artistry, the schedule is designed to be both rigorous and flexible.
