A Victorian Nutcracker is a retelling of the classic story of a young girl’s Christmas Eve dream, brought on by a curious gift of a nutcracker, in which she travels to the Sugar Plum Fairy’s Land of the Sweets. This version is unique to Portland and its history, as the first act takes place in the Victoria Mansion with characters pulled directly from Portland’s past. Performances at Merrill Auditorium will feature the Portland Ballet Orchestra conducted by Lucas Richman.

Please note that Westbrook Performing Arts Center remains closed for mold remediation, but we look forward to returning to WPAC for the second half of our season. 

A Victorian Nutcracker - Community Show

Portland Ballet is proud to present a community show of a Victorian Nutcracker for local groups such as schools, senior centers, and other community-based organizations. Groups should be at least 10 people. Reservations are made on a first come first serve basis. Seating begins at 9:30am and the show will begin at 10:00am and last approximately 2 hours with an intermission. This year’s offering will include live music by the Portland Ballet Orchestra conducted by Lucas Richman. Please contact office@portlandballet.org with any questions. Orders have now closed.
