Jackson Gormley
Jackson Gormley was born and raised on Long Island, New York where he began to dance at the age of 11. Jackson decided to pursue ballet more seriously at the Eglevsky Ballet where he trained under Laszlo Berdo and then Maurice Brandon Curry. Jackson went on to train at Ballet Academy East under the direction of Darla Hoover, and studied with Francis Patrelle, Joseph Malbrough, Cheryl Yeager, and Peter Frame. Jackson continued to pursue dance by attending Point Park University under the direction of Garfield Lemonius and trained with Matthew Powell, Julia Erickson, Susan Stowe, Rocker Verastique, Kiesha Lalama, and Jason McDole. While at Point Park, he was also fortunate to perform works by distinguished choreographers including Jessica Lange, Jae Man Jo, Christopher Wheeldon, Adam Hougland, and Tyce Diorio. In the Spring of 2021, Jackson graduated Suma Cum Laude from Point Park University with his B.F.A. in dance with a concentration in Ballet. Jackson also attended the Jacob's Pillow Contemporary Ballet Program, working with Anabelle Lopez Ochoa.
Jackson joined Portland Ballet as a Company Dancer in the 2021/2022 season and has since performed roles such as Harlequin in Harlequinade, The Narrator and Prince Prospero in Tales by Poe, Helios in Persephone & Hades, Cavalier in A Victorian Nutcracker, and Firebird in Firebird, and Albrecht in Giselle. As well as dancing with the company, Jackson has also choreographed pieces for the company for the annual New Works and A Victorian Nutcracker.
